According to the Association of Metallurgists of Ukraine Ukrmetallurgprom, in the first five months of 2022, pig iron production in Ukraine amounted to about 4.15 million tons, a decrease of 53.3% year on year.
During the reporting period, the production of crude steel in Ukraine amounted to about 4.24 million tons, which is 52.8% less compared to the same period last year. Steel production in Ukraine amounted to about 3.79 million tons, decreasing by 52.7% compared to the same period last year.
Compared to iron ore mining in Ukraine and steel, iron ore mining and export in Ukraine had a smaller impact.
Ferrexpo, a producer of iron ore pellets in Ukraine, produced about 4.4 million tonnes of iron ore pellets between January and February, down 8% from last year.
