The UK is considering lifting anti-dumping duties on some steel products from Ukraine due to Russia's military actions in the country, the trade agency said on Friday.
Duties can be waived for up to nine months on hot-rolled flat and coiled products (HRFC), which are mainly used in mechanical and electrical engineering, construction and automotive industries, the Office of Remedies said in a statement.
“At the request of the government of Ukraine, we will check whether the suspension of measures against certain Ukrainian steel products is justified due to changed market conditions after the Russian invasion,” the statement says.
The agency also said it has launched two separate reviews of anti-dumping measures against HRFCs from Russia, Ukraine, Brazil and Iran, and anti-subsidy measures against imports of stainless steel bars from India.
The UK is evaluating the measures it inherited from the European Union and looking to see if they "still fit the needs of the UK," the statement said.
The TRA was created after the UK left the European Union to investigate unfair trade practices and measures.
