According to the operating reports of the Chinese company Baoshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. (Baosteel), its new robot BAO Robot went into operation and helped Baosteel cut a total of 6,918 employees in 2020 and 2021 without hurting Baosteel's revenue and profit. On the contrary, from 2019 to 2021, its revenue increased from 292.4 billion yuan to 365.3 billion yuan. Meanwhile, profit rose from 13.9 billion yuan in 2019 to 26.5 billion yuan in 2021.
Baosteel has indicated that robotic work can help its staff avoid heavy, high-intensity and risky work environments. Instead, they can focus more on high value-added products and services to improve work efficiency.
