Ukrainian steelmaker Zaporizhstal is considering cutting production due to serious logistical problems.
Most of the shipment routes passed through ports before the Russian-Ukrainian war, but there is still no access. As a result, stockpiles at the border in western Ukraine are excessive. Thus, these reasons made the company think about reducing production.
In the first five months of this year, steel production at Zaporizhstal amounted to almost 853,000 tons, down 48.6% year on year. Pig iron production at Zaporizhstal decreased by 46.4% and amounted to about 988 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, steel production fell 46.4% to around 754,000 tons.
